Designed for committed players who are ready to train and compete at a higher level, this program focuses on developing confident and highly skilled athletes prepared for school teams and advanced competition. Players will participate in structured practices, advanced skill development, and team strategies while building discipline, leadership, and strong work habits. The club teams will compete against other club programs and participate in tournaments, providing valuable game experience and exposure to higher-level basketball.

Kevin
Coach
Coach Kevin is a new generation, open minded yet clever coach. He started playing basketball at the age of 10 and was able to play in the NCAA in the Philippines for 3 years and played in professional leagues NBL and MPBL, both pro leagues in the Philippines for 2 years. He coached High-school level basketball in the Philippines for 4 years and coached a top 25 team in the country in 2018-2019 and coached a grade 12 team that was ranked top 20 for collegiate ranks despite being 2-4 years younger than their opponents in 2017. He still currently plays in various mens leagues around BC winning Mythical 5, Best forward/Guard and All Star Selections to show for them. After moving to BC back in 2023 after being the Philippines for 8 years, he brings with him his fiery, defensive minded, tactical thinking coaching style that has a distinct uniqueness to it. He works hard and holds himself to high accountability and ownership as a coach and person and is committed to seeing his players develop physically and skill-wise but at the same time understands that basketball is not the end all of life and focuses on seeing his players learn and develop in terms of maturity, discipline, hard work, commitment and team work amongst the other qualities he does his best to pass on to his players.
Rosie

Founder and one of the Head Coaches of THRIVE Basketball. Rosie started off by playing in the Philippines at the age of 5 years old. Then joined YMCA league when she moved to Canada when she was in Grade 6, and played at North Surrey Secondary where she received numerous All Stars and MVP’s. Rosie had been an experience coach for 10 years from grade 5 level up to seniors level. Rosie finished her Bachelor degree of Physical Education and Coaching at Douglas College. Then immediately, graduate from Teacher of Education in UBC. Currently, Rosie is a teacher and the Athletic Director at Yorkson Creek Middle School in Langley District. She is very knowledgeable about basketball and with her energetic, passionate and dedication to coach she hopes to pass it on towards the next generation of players. Rosie’s goal is to impact as many young athletes as she can in positive way, whether through basketball or education.
Ruel

Ruel Cardinoza, a devoted basketball enthusiast hailing from the Philippines, has dedicated over four years to volunteer coaching grade 5 basketball, including his own children. Ruel’s passion for the sport was ignited during his high school days at Henry James Secondary, where he excelled as a junior point guard for the Cambie Crusaders. Drawing upon his experience as a former player, Ruel has seamlessly transitioned into a mentor and coach, instilling his love for the game and valuable skills in young athletes. Through his coaching, Ruel emphasizes the fundamental values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, while also nurturing the individual growth and confidence of each player. Ruel’s coaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every player feels empowered to reach their full potential, both on and off the court. His unwavering commitment to developing not only skilled basketball players but also well-rounded individuals has made a lasting impact on the lives of those he has coached. Ruel’s coaching journey stands as a testament to the profound influence a dedicated mentor can have on the next generation of athletes, and his continued dedication to the sport serves as an inspiration to aspiring basketball enthusiasts.

Coach Nhikko has a proven track record of empowering individuals and teams to achieve their full potential. He began playing basketball at the age of four and competed at the R1AA and Palarong Pambansa level in the Philippines before moving to Canada, where he continued his basketball journey with Burnaby South Secondary School. In the Philippines, R1AA stands for the Region 1 Athletic Association, an annual athletic competition organized by the Department of Education (DepEd) for student-athletes across the Ilocos region. The R1AA Meet is a significant event that serves as a qualifier for the prestigious Palarong Pambansa, the national sports competition. Currently, Coach Nhikko actively plays in various men's leagues around British Columbia, earning accolades such as Season MVP, Finals MVP, Mythical Five, Best Point Guard, Three-Point Champion, and All-Star Selections.
He specializes in helping young athletes clarify their goals, overcome obstacles, and implement sustainable strategies for growth and success. Whether working with professionals seeking leadership development, athletes aiming to improve their performance, or individuals navigating personal transitions, Coach Nhikko offers a supportive yet challenging environment that fosters lasting transformation.
